Intel Launches Budget Ivy Bridge Processors

Now that Intel has its efficient and expensive Ivy Bridge microarchitecture in tablets and computers everywhere, it’s decided to launch a budget-friendly line of processors which use the same 22nm manufacturing process.

CPU World reports that Intel is launching three Celeron CPUs, four Pentiums and a new Core i3 processor, which should theoretically be available from today. If you’re thirsty for detailed specs, check out the article, but a brief rundown reads like this:

The Celerons have 2MB of L3 cache, HD graphics and range from 2.3GHz to 2.7GHz, and all have two cores and two threads.

The Pentiums score 3MB of L3 cache, HD graphics and processors that manage between 2.5GHz and 3.2GHz. Again, two cores and two threads.

The i3 clocks at 3.2GHz, with 3MB of L3 cache and HD 2500 graphics, with four threads and hyperthreading.

All the chips are compatible with existing Socket 1155 motherboards and range in price from $US42 for the lowest-spec Celeron to $US112 for the i3. Time for an upgrade? [CPU World via Engadget]
