Gizmodo Awards 2012: Mobile And Home Broadband ISP Of The Year

This week we’re announcing the best tech of the year, and we’re about to announce the best internet providers of 2012. And the winner is…

Without further ado…

Best Fixed Broadband ISP

Readers’ Choice:

iiNet

Congratulations to iiNet on the win!

Honourable Mentions:
Telstra — 21 per cent
TPG — 16 per cent

Editor’s Choice

iiNet

iiNet spent the year swallowing its competitors whole to make it one of the largest ISPs in the country. Thankfully, that size hasn’t come at the cost of diminishing customer service quality and competitive plan pricing. It’s still as good as ever, and that makes it our choice for fixed ISP of the year.

Honourable Mention:
Telstra

Best Mobile Broadband

Readers’ Choice:

Telstra

Congratulations to Telstra on the win!

Honourable Mentions:
iiNet — 25 per cent
Optus — 9 per cent

Editor’s Choice

Telstra

2012 was the year of 4G, and Telstra bolted out of the gates to provide a network that is still at least 12 months ahead of its nearest competitor, Optus. It has a slew of devices to choose from and it has a roadmap to cover 66% of the population by mid-next year. It’s a solid network with solid choice, price and handsets available. A very deserving win.

Honourable Mention:
Optus
