Vimeo For iPhone: Watch Amazing Short Films In A Simplified App

Vimeo is a wonderland of amazing short films — a YouTube for filmmakers, but without all the racist gremlin commenters. And for the first time ever, it’s developed its very own iPhone app.

What does it do?

Lets you browse, upload, and share videos.

Why do we like it?

Yes, Vimeo has had an app, but this is the first version that has been created in-house, and it’s a huge improvement. The emphasis this time is really on video viewing, with a queue for the stuff you want to watch later and tabs at the bottom for easier browsing. You can pause and restart uploads at your leisure now, or just upload something in the background so you don’t have to stop watching another video. Vimeo also stripped away a lot of the crap you don’t particularly care about having on your iPhone — the video editor, for example, which apparently really weighed down the older versions. In this case, a simpler app is a better app. [TheNextWeb]
