Robot Stephen Fry Phones in Award Ceremony Presentation

Stephen Fry presented an award to the video gaming industry last week, only he didn’t do it in person. He sent a robot ambassador on his behalf.

The performance wasn’t entirely robotic, though. Fry provided the voice for the rubbery version of himself, which managed to wheel itself on stage, pulled off a few jerky chest rotations and waved its arms around a couple of times, occasionally wobbling its loose lips to represent talking not really in time with the actual words.

It wasn’t hugely convincing in the facial aspect either, but did manage to pull off a small amount of blinking. The audience didn’t seem too impressed by it, but it got the job done and Stephen didn’t have to leave the comfort of his leathery study. [YouTube]
