According to a statement released by the company, Damien Dinning, the Lead Program Manager for Nokia’s Smart Devices business, has quit. Following stints at Eastman Kodak and Minolta UK, Dinning joined Nokia in 2004 and was considered to be the person behind the advanced camera technology used in the company’s smartphones.
Nokia’s official statement, released to The Verge, explains that Dinning’s departure followed the company’s decision to relocate several positions to Finland. So maybe he just wasn’t thrilled about the cold?
Following the relocation of key strategic roles to Finland, and with great reluctance, Damian Dinning has made a personal decision to leave the company effective November 30, 2012. During the past nine years, Damian has made many innovative and valuable contributions to Nokia, most recently as a lead program manager in our Smart Devices business. We thank him for his service to the company and certainly wish him the best.
Whatever the reason may be, Nokia is heavily relying on imaging as a key feature of its smartphones over the competition. So you can expect them to find a suitably experienced replacement for Dinning in the very near future. [Amateur Photographer via The Verge]
