Airbnb Officially Lands In Australia

Continuing the trend of Silicon Valley start-ups to land in Australia, travel rental company Airbnb has launched in Australia.

Airbnb now has a booked-out office that employs about 12 people to manage the 5000-odd properties currently available in Australia.

While the official Australian launch is today, company co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky today told us that Australia is the company’s second most popular destination behind the US.

Tonight, that means that 1000 people will be sleeping in Australian beds thanks to Airbnb, and a further 3000 Aussies are shacking up around the world thanks to the service.

In the next year or so, Brian tells me that he wants 10-times as many properties listed on Airbnb in Australia.
