Transforming Cap Guarantees You’ve Always Got A Lens Hood Handy

Perfect for photographers who don’t dig the lens flare look but want to keep their kit as minimal as possible, the awkwardly named Hoocap combines a lens cap and hood into a clever transforming accessory. It keeps fingerprints and scratches off your lens, and glare and flares off your photos.

At the moment the Hoocap’s only available for a limited set of lenses — namely the Canon EF-S 17-55mm and the Nikon AF-S DX 17-55mm. But a wider range will soon be available for camera makers like Sony and Leica as well. At $US49 it’s not going to break the bank if you’ve stuck with just the kit lens that came with your camera. But if you’ve got a large collection of lenses in your arsenal, equipping them all with their own Hoocaps will get pricey very quickly.
