These Stabilised Binoculars Compensate For 98% Of Your Shakes And Shivers

Adapting its military-grade gear for the consumer market, Fraser-Volpe's STEDI-EYE Mariner binoculars promise to remove up to 98 per cent of unwanted motion from shaky hands or vibrations from a moving vehicle. It's weatherproof and packs night vision too, making it an uber-expensive accessory for serious bird watchers.

Just how expensive you might ask? Try just north of $US5400. You could build your own private aviary with that much money. But the binoculars do seem to deliver impressive features for their high-end price tag. Besides being completely waterproof, buoyant, and working even in the dark, the Mariners feature a set of gyroscope-stabilised prisms sitting between its 14x magnifying lenses. The system is capable of instantly cancelling out vertical movements as drastic as 50 degrees, so even while running through the woods you're guaranteed a perfect view of that rare Green-Breasted Mango.

Aw, this was a really good post. Taking the time and actual effort to create a top notch article but what can I say I hesitate
a whole lot and never seem to get anything done.

    What's New

Gyro stabilised binocs. have been around for at least a couple of decades....
Adding night vision is great... for non-fauna related bird watching...

Using stabilised vision for primary night vision isn't so good... the gyro lag and catch-up makes it an interesting roller coaster ride.. better let someone else do the walking/driving while you get entertained.....
Fujinon.. similar (though probably with later night vision tech) $16k ouch

Similar price as these without night vision..... Do you really need night vision to maybe put up with inferior optics... ?? Nice to know about, Too expensive to buy without hands on....
