Is HTC Ditching Samsung for Other Smartphone Component Suppliers, Just Like Apple?

Reports coming out of the ever-thrilling component supply chain world suggest that HTC is joining Apple in lessening its dependence on Samsung, moving away from the company and finding alternative suppliers for some internal parts of its smartphones.

Hit and miss supply chain news resource DigiTimes claims HTC is moving away from Samsung as the supplier of image sensors, instead preferring to use OmniVision and Sony to make the camera systems it’ll be loading into future models. HTC is said to be continuing with Samsung as a supplier of mobile displays, but only due to yield and supply issues.

It’s unlikely to trouble Samsung too much, as HTC’s been on a downward trajectory for some time, while sales of its own range of Galaxy models continue to rocket the company, and Android, to unprecedented new highs. [DigiTimes]
