This Is What Nokia’s Lumia Image Stabilisation Actually Looks Like

Nokia got caught out in a big way for “demonstrating” the optical image stabilisation on the new Lumia 920 this morning by showing a video that claimed to be taken from the phone, but really it was all staged for a full camera crew. Very naughty. Nokia has taken to its Conversations blog to apologise and to show us what OIS really looks like on the new Lumia 920.

Heidi Lemmetyinen, editor-in-chief of the Nokia blog wrote an apology post just now, pleading for forgivementss for the faked footage:

Of course, hindsight is 20/20, but we should have posted a disclaimer stating [the OIS demo] was a representation of OIS only. This was not shot with a Lumia 920. At least, not yet. We apologise for the confusion we created.

As a gesture of good faith, Lemmetyinen took her own OIS-enabled video with the Lumia 920 and showed it off on the blog. It does actually look pretty amazing. Fool me once… [Nokia Conversations]
