Hi everyone! First of all I want to thank Lifehacker and Microsoft for giving me this amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to get stuck in the Windows Server 2012 sessions and report everything back to you.
I’ve always been a real enthusiast for anything IT-related. One of the earliest warning signs I remember was when I hugged the copy of Windows XP my parents bought me for Christmas for the entire journey home from the store like some kind of puppy. It only got worse from there.
I can usually be found queuing outside tech stores for the latest product launch or awake at 3am downloading software as soon as it becomes available from MSDN, ready to play with when I get in the office that morning. I absolutely love being among the first to use or test the latest tech goodness.
My professional IT career started after finishing a 2-year training course which got me a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer + Security qualification on Windows Server 2003. Since then I’ve kept taking more exams to keep things current and have passed a total of 15 Microsoft certifications to date.
I have been working in IT for about six years now. I’ve always worked for outsourced IT departments which I love because I get to work across a huge variety of networks and gain experience I don’t think I’d get being in-house. My current role at Allstar Solutions has become a bit more “product development”-based recently with me researching the latest technologies and how they can benefit our customers, including Windows Server 2012.
I’ve been testing the developer preview and release candidates of Windows Server 2012 internally for the last few months and can’t wait to be shown around by the people who actually made it. Being taught by Microsoft engineers about what Server 2012 is capable of is something I usually could only dream of and being surrounded by other people as buzzed about this product launch as I am is going to be a fantastic experience . . . I can’t wait!
