Philips' Retro Dock Is How Grandpa Would Have Enjoyed His iPhone

Digging deep into its design archives, Philips has introduced a small collection of retro-looking radios packing decidedly modern features, such as DAB+ digital radio. On the ORD 7100R model, it also come with a pop-out iOS device dock.

But the real appeal here is the radio's old-timey design, which feature deep rich colours, faux wood finishes, and classic-looking knobs and buttons. It's like they've turned the stereo from your grandfather's station wagon into a centrepiece for your kitchen counter. There's no word on pricing or availability just yet, but you can probably expect them to drop in time for the Christmas shopping season. [Philips via Pocket-lint]

Maybe if it was my grandfather's, it would have valves and take half a minute to warm up and make whistling noises when tuning it.
It would crackle when you turn on the lights.

I think it's fantastic companies are starting to make things actually look good again.

From PocketLint: Prices and UK availability are yet to be confirmed, but we've been told it will be available from €199 in Europe and should be in stores in time for Christmas.
