Apple Decides To Limit Its One-To-One Service To Safari Users Only

Gizmodo reader Paula E. B. wrote to us saying that when she tried to renew her membership with Apple’s One-to-One customer bootcamp/training program, a notice popped up saying that One-to-One is now only supported by Safari — Apple’s own web browser.

Paula is a dedicated Firefox user, so she found this latest rule to be rather prohibitive. A quick look around the Apple Support Communities revealed others have found themselves in a similarly frustrating position.

Sure, it’s understandable that Apple would want to keep its customers as close as possible, rather than lose out to the likes of IE, Firefox or Chrome. But prohibiting customers who have already bought their computers from Apple from using third-party web browsers on said computers seems to cross over onto just the other side of extremely controlling.

[Thanks Paula!]
