According to NBC, the official broadcaster of the 2012 London Olympics in the US, Australia is a beautiful, landlocked country bordered by the likes of Switzerland, Hungary and Slovakia. You read correctly: NBC just confused Australia with Austria.
The confusing country fact sheet appeared underneath the Australian country page on NBC’s official Olympic website. Sadly, it’s now been changed, but presumably it’s been that way all weekend. It’s now been changed to reflect the fact that we’re a large island in the middle of nowhere. That’s about it really.
