Apple Fails To Ban US HTC Imports

Back in May, Apple managed to hold up the import of HTC handsets on the grounds that they infringed a number of patents. The ban didn’t last for long — and now the ITC is flatly refusing to listen to Apple’s whining.

Apple placed an emergency request for a new ban to be imposed, but the ITC is having none of it, reports Bloomberg. A statement issuesd by the ITC explains:

“Apple has not demonstrated the propriety of temporary emergency action… the commission will not direct Customs to detain all subject HTC products because the commission does not have the information necessary to determine whether the respondents are currently violating the commission’s limited exclusion order.”

The ITC is investigating a number of possible patent infringements on HTC handset, but it’s certainly not hurrying itself along on Apple’s say-so. It’s kind of amusing to see Apple failing to get its way for a change. [Bloomberg]
