This Lovely Pop-Up Desk Does A Bad Job At Hiding Its Secret

Oddly enough, this isn’t the first desk we’ve featured that uses an accordion folder for extra storage space. But Magdalena Tekieli’s Secret Desk is more conspicuous in the way it hides its pop-up storage.

At the turn of a crank, a series of wooden drawers and cubbyholes rise up from the back edge of the desk, and the leather accordion folder underneath retracts at the same time. It leaves no mystery as to where those drawers magically disappear to, but when the desk looks this lovely, no one’s really asking.

Sadly, as is most often the case in the world of design, the Secret Desk is a one-off creation that would probably come with a massive price tag if the artist ever decided to sell it. While you could probably convince her to build you one, you better be prepared to sign a cheque with plenty of zeros. [Magdalena Tekieli via Freshome]
