Shoot Up-Close Or Far Away With Nikon’s 16.7x Zoom Lens

Shoot Up-Close Or Far Away With Nikon’s 16.7x Zoom Lens

Nikon’s new 18-300mm super zoom DX lens is the perfect piece of kit for photographers trying to lighten their load.

The lens offers the highest zoom ratio you’ll find in a DSLR lens — 16.7 times from its widest 18mm setting to its 300mm long-range telephoto option. While it’s not the fastest zoom lens you can buy, its aperture range of f/3.5 to 4.5 is nothing to sneeze at. Like any zoom lens, you’ll probably want to stick with a tripod when shooting in full telephoto mode, but it includes Nikon’s Vibration Reduction (VR) II image stabilisation tech, which lets you get away with shooting at shutter speeds about four stops faster. You’ll just have to wait until the end of June before you can surrender $US1000 for the privilege of doing so. [Nikon via Fareastgizmos]
