That ‘Like’ button in your favourite social apps can now publish your ‘Like’ to Facebook. In a blog post, Facebook describes a change to Open Graph introducing a new Like button that developers can put in their mobile apps, which will post the like to Facebook as well.
Here’s how it works: Let’s say your friend posts an Instagram photo to Facebook. If you ‘Like’ that post in the app, that ‘Like’ will show up on Facebook as a notification that says, “Mario likes your photo on Instagram.” Unlike the regular ‘Like’ button you’re used to seeing around the internet, you’ll actually have to authorise the app to publish the notification to Facebook. It’s nice that you can opt out, but ugh, it’s still kind of annoying. [Facebook via The Verge]
