Raspberry Pi Gets A Sweet Camera

The beauty of the Raspberry Pi design is that it can, technically, be just about anything you’re willing to tinker it to be. That hasn’t stopped the official Raspberry Pi developers from coming up with their own add-ons. First up: A 14 megapixel camera.

OK, 14 megapixels is most definitely overkill — the official blog notes that

“We may downgrade the super-duperness of the camera to something with fewer than its current 14 megapixels before release; we need to keep things affordable, and a sensor of that size will end up pricey.”

There’s no word yet on that final price, or for that matter availability, but then again, the nice thing about the Pi is that if you can’t wait — and presuming you can actually get your hands on one — you could always build your own camera instead. [Raspberry Pi Blog via Liliputing]
