Lightbulbs are becoming increasingly obsolete in favour of smaller, more efficient LEDs. So what do you do with the classic Angelpoise lamp design — one whose design catered to the bulb — in 2012? You turn it upside down, of course.
German design student Louis Rensch chose to flip the lamp in such a manner to highlight the ways in which LEDs are not lightbulbs — namely, they can conform to different shapes and forms in ways lightbulbs cannot. And coincidentally enough, the head of the Angelpoise makes a pretty good base. Now when can I buy one? [Architekturzeitung via Core77 via Trendhunter]
