Snap-Together Voltron Chess Set Is A Checkmate Of Awesome

The game of chess has long been viewed as a pursuit for nerds. But that’s totally going to change with Joseph Larson’s Thingiverse creation — a custom chess set where all the pieces come together to form a super robot ala Voltron.

The set was created for a Tinercad-sponsored contest to design a unique chess set. With Voltron on his side, Larson is obviously going to win and take home a MakerBot to bring his creation to life. But the rest of us who are sorely lacking in 3D printing capabilities can only download the 3D schematics and hope that Larson decides to one day print these en masse and sell them on Etsy.
