The rumour mills are churning away trying to sort out exactly what the iPad 3 that everyone assumes will be unveiled on Thursday morning (Australian time) will be like. It’s now suggested that it’ll be joined by a revised fully covering Smart Cover as well.
The new case rumour comes from iLounge, where it’s suggested that it’ll be the same old Smart Cover on the front and then a rear fibreglass case covered with leather. That’s not an entirely new design idea; the moment the iPad 2 launched, various case makers created what were essentially “backs” for Smart Cover users, as well as fully wraparound cases with Smart Cover style functionality at the front.
The same rumour source also states that the next iPhone will most likely have a glass back, in the same style as the existing iPhone 4/4S, but with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 for added rigidity. [iLounge]
