Have you heard this one before? Four guys dressed in business suits walk into a fancy bar and order a Negroni cocktail… that might sound like a start of a bad joke but in reality it’s the beginning of a ridiculously awesome stunt. After finishing their drinks, the daredevils skip out on their tab by jumping off the Rialto Towers’ 55th-storey balcony and parachuting to safety.
WAIT WHAT.
It’s true, the four guys had their parachute packs hidden underneath their suits and helmet cameras in their suitcases when they walked inside the fancy Vue de monde restaurant in Melbourne, Australia. Restaurant owner Shannon Bennett said:
“Basically, four guys came upstairs with parachutes hidden underneath their jackets… They ordered some drinks at the bar [and then] one went to the bathroom, followed by the rest, straight out to the balcony and pretty much jumped straight off.”
The building they jumped off is the 63-storey, 250.9m-tall Rialto Towers. It’s the tallest office building in the southern hemisphere (when measured to its roof) and gives sweeping views to the beautiful metropolis of Melbourne. Basically, it’s a wonderful building to jump off of. The whole thing was perfectly planned as the daredevils had a getaway car waiting for them on the street (though they did scare the pants off of everybody in the restaurant who thought they were committing suicide).
However awesome the stunt was — and let’s hope the helmet cam’s video pops up on YouTube soon — the restaurant is still waiting for the guys to pay their bill. Good luck with that! [News.com.au, The Sun]
