Motorola Phones Have A Pitifully Long Wait For Android 4.0

Android 4.0 — aka Ice Cream Sandwich — is such a lovely and tasteful software update for Android phones that I’d be kicking and crying if my phone didn’t have it. Well, it looks like Motorola owners should start kicking and crying because they have a painfully long wait before they even sniff Ice Cream Sandwich. We’re talking like Motorola doesn’t even know when’s it coming long.

Seriously, most of the hallmark Motorola Android handsets — Droid 4, Droid 3, Droid Bionic, Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR Maxx, etc — don’t even have any official plans of when they’ll go 4.0. The devices are currently “in evaluation and planning” with “further details to follow”. Devices like the Atrix 2 and Xyboard are maybe even in a worse position with a known delivery date of Q3 2012 for Android 4.0. Q3! How many Droids will Motorola pump out before then? 5? 10? 20?

It’s amazing that Motofreakingrola, which is now Google’s baby, is taking this long to deliver Android 4.0 to its handsets. In fact, the only Motorola device that’s received an ICS rollout is the Xoom. How is that acceptable?! Check out the full list of Android 4.0 updates to Motorola phones on the left. Let’s pour one out for the Cliq. [Motorola via The Verge]
