Famous Explosions Recreated Using Cauliflower

It takes a very certain mind to re-imagine images using quirky media. Artist Brock Davis has that kind of mind: his latest project involves recreating famous explosions using… cauliflower?

I guess when you stop and think, the outside of a cauli’ has a certain cloud-like quality to it, which is perfect for recreating the plumes of gas and debris created during explosions. In the image above, Davis has recreated the tragic destruction of the space shuttle Challenger in 1986. While these images are certainly macabre, they’re also pretty convincing.

You can check out the rest of his series, including a recreation of the Hindenburg and the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, over in his Flickr album. [Brock Davis via Neatorama]
