Can Social Media Predict Oscars Winners?

The Oscars are taking place today; I’ve seen precious few of the films up for nomination, which made picking the winners in the office pool particularly tricky. If only somebody had compiled a list of potential winners based on social media noise. Oh, look — somebody did!

OK, just because people are chattering about a film doesn’t mean that it will win, but the flowchart built over at Flowtown runs through each of the top categories, ranking the potential winners by the amount people are talking about them. Hit the link for the full table. As prediction strategies go, it’s probably as good as any other.

All I know is that if ‘Man Or Muppet’ doesn’t win best song, I’m going to riot. [Flowtown]
