Rara Is Yet Another Music Subscription Service

Hot on the heels of Rdio’s Australian launch comes yet another music subscription service for Australians. Rara.com promises access to 10 million tracks, with an introcutory pricing of just $0.99 per month for three months.

After the initial period, Rara jumps up to $7.99 per month for web access, with web plus mobile access costing $12.99 per month. Sadly though, mobile access appears to just be for certain Android handsets, although an iOS launch will be coming in the future.

It’s a fairly typical music subscription service, from all accounts. Browse or search artists, create playlists, discover new music, share your finds on Facebook… You know the drill. All the major labels are present and accounted for, so you should be able to find the vast majority of music you’re looking for. You do need flash running on your browser for the service to work though.

99 cents is an attractive price point to test the service out, but I imagine a few people will be stung when the three month pricing is used up. Still, more competition is always better – it will be interesting to see how this service goes in the long term.
