Fujifilm Makes Its Best Point And Shoot Faster And Zoomier

Fuji’s new X-S1 and superzoom cameras might be headlining, but it’s also got some nice new point-and-shoots and tough cameras on the way. Here’s the highlight reel on those.

The top-of-the-line point-and-shoots for Fuji are the F770 EXR and F750 EXR, displacing the F600 and F605. Both have a 15-megapixel EXR sensor and 20x optical zoom (25-500mm), shoot at eight FPS (full resolution) or 11fps (reduced res), and have a mini-HDMI out. They can also shoot high speed movies in slow motion at 80/60/320fps (the faster the framerate the smaller the resolution, of course). The F770, being the flagship, has added bonuses such as GPS, RAW support, and comes in black or red with a rubberised chasis. Both the F770 and F750 come out at the end of March for $US370 and $US350, respectively. The F750 also comes in an extra colour, white.

Fuji’s also got a few nice new tough/rugged cameras coming, the XP150 and XP100. The 150 has GPS capabilities, but it and the 100 share 14MP CMOS sensors with 5x internal wide angle zoom (28-140mm) and can shoot 10fps continuous shooting and 1080p video (MPEG4). They’re both waterproof to 33 feet, shockproof to 6.5 feet, freezeproof to 14°F (-10°C), and dustproof. And they look an awful lot like some of the other tough cameras we’ve seen lately. The XP150 is $US250, while the XP100 will be $US200; both prices are a good bit cheaper Nikon’s similarly touch-specced AW100, and around the same price as the Lumix TS3. Both are out in mid-March.
