Hot For 2012: Facebook Ads In Your News Feed!

Ads ads ads ads ads ads ads ads ads ads ads ads ads ads. We love ads. Ads ads ads ads. Facebook ads. Give us more ads! We want ads! What’s wrong with Facebook? Not enough ads! More ads? Phew!

TechCrunch, citing an anonymous Facebook ad bro, says Zuckerberg’s Like empire will soon start dropping advertisements in your news feed, which hitherto this point has been sacred ground. But in 2012, the place you once trusted as an untainted source of keg pics and meme links will be festooned with one ad per day, based on a sponsor you’ve chosen to “Like.” You can close it if you’d like, but there won’t be any opting out.

You should not be outraged about this because: A) if you’ve chosen to Like a corporate entity, you’ve pretty much sold out anyway B) it’s only one more ad per day atop the Everest pile you’re already exposed to and C) Facebook is free and it needs ads to keep Zuck’s chicken farm stocked.

Even if there is a popular shit-fit about the change, Facebook knows everyone will eventually put their pants back on and be quiet about it, because it’s done far, far worse to the site and still ballooned its membership by the hundreds of millions. So get ready for the ads. Or, ad, really. Just one obnoxious ad, every day. [TechCrunch]
