Yesterday, Facebook extended the character limit on status updates from 5000 to 63,206. As our resident egghead Kyle Wagner points out, that's roughly a third of the 170,000 characters contained within Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
I'm not sure too many people were clamouring for more word room on their Facebook wall/profile/timeline/whatever the hell it is now. And it won't affect the noise on your news feed or ticker (it will automatically truncate.
