A Saudi Billionaire Just Stumped Up $300m For A Share Of Twitter

Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has taken a $US300m stake in Twitter. But that’s small change to this guy, whose wealth is estimated to be just below $US20bn.

If you’re to believe that Twitter is worth the $US8bn that some analysts predicted in July, the investment amounts to a 3.75% stake. According to The Guardian, Alwaleed said about the deal:

“Our investment in Twitter reaffirms our ability in identifying suitable opportunities to invest in promising, high-growth businesses with a global impact.”

Alwaleed also holds a 7% stake in News Corporation, Rupert Murdoch’s giant media enterprise. The man has some pretty heavyweight connections, then. [The Guardian]
