British Artist Builds Forest Of PVC Trees

This light-dappled glen of pale trees isn’t a scene out of the next Avatar flick, it’s an awe-inspiring stand of plastic Cherry trees created by designer Tom Price.

The installation, called Cherry Tree, is constructed wholly from PVC piping and cable ties. Reportedly, the artist drew his inspiration a visit to the US capital last spring during the National Cherry Blossom fesitval. These images are from the Industry Gallery in Washington D.C last month.

Price used a special tools to heat and bend the pipes into the shapes of trunks and branches, while fusing cross-sections of pipe together into canopies. “I like to think of myself as working in collaboration with materials, processes and phenomena and that the final physical outcome is a product of mutual consent,” Price told the Industry Gallery recently.
