Adidas Website Stops Running

Adidas is the latest brand name firm to suffer a cyber-attack, with the sports manufacturer’s main website being replaced by a placeholder image.

Adidas told the BBC that no user details were compromised in the attack; Adidas says it noticed the intrusion on November 3. What’s odd here is that if you go to Adidas.com right now, the placeholder page will happily send you to any number of Adidas e-commerce sites. That indicates that shiny web presence aside, Adidas is still trading online. If the hackers weren’t after the money, what were they after — new shoes? [BBC]
