The Asus Zenbook is the latest Ultrabook-class laptop to go official. Competing against the Acer Aspire S3 and MacBook Air, the UX31 (and the smaller UX21) Zenbook attempts to combine small size with real-world performance without sacrificing too much in either category.
The 13.3-inch UX31 Zenbook has a 1600×900 resolution, weighs 1.3kg, packs an Intel Core i7 processor, and USB 3.0. Bang and Olufsen-powered sound and has 4GB RAM. The battery is rated to last seven hours while on, and 10 days in standby mode. Additionally, Asus says their laptop has a two-second instant-on time.
Meanwhile, the smaller, 11.6-inch Asus UX21 is only 0.35 inches at its thickest point and only weighs 1.1kg. The screen has an HD-calibre 1366×768 resolution and a five-hour battery life.
Both the UX31 and UX21 Zenbooks will be available starting tomorrow for $US1100 and $US1000, respectively.
