That Cassini Smartypants Spacecraft Is One Amazing Photographer

The Cassini spacecraft has been able to capture this stunning image of five Saturn moons in one single frame. From left to right: Janus, Pandora, Enceladus, Mimas and Rhea.

This view looks toward the northern, sunlit side of the rings from just above the ringplane. Rhea is closest to Cassini here. The rings are beyond Rhea and Mimas. Enceladus is beyond the rings.

The image was taken on July 29, 2011, 1.1 million kilometres from Rhea, using Cassini’s narrow-angle camera.
