The Nokia ringtone (you know… da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da-daaa!) is pretty iconic. It’s also somewhat dated, and Nokia’s looking for somebody to compose its next ringtone, offering up $US10,000 prize money along the way.
That video is excellent; I could watch that all day. But that won’t win me any money, whereas mustering whatever musical talent I’ve got (disclaimer: essentially none) could win $US10,000 according to Nokia’s just-announced competition to find its next ringtone. Entries close October 2, and if like me you don’t possess any musical talent to speak of at all, you can also vote for your favourite tune. The five tunes with the most votes will go through to a judging panel, and the winner will be featured on select phones in Nokia’s 2012 phone portfolio. So perhaps, like Mark Twain, reports of the classic tune’s demise are a little exaggerated.
