Hey Kids, The iPhone Will NOT Cure Acne

The US Federal Trade Commission has ruled that there is no proof that iPhone apps will cure acne.

The commission has settled complaints with two developers concerning claims that their apps treated acne using coloured lights emitted from the iPhone. While light therapy is a recognised treatment for acne, the iPhone does not emit the neccessary amount of light to be effective.

So if you’re one of the 14,900 people that purchased AcneApp or Ance Pwner, you can stop holding your iPhone up to your face. It ain’t gonna work.

FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz said in a statement “Smartphones make our lives easier in countless ways, but unfortunately when it comes to curing acne, there’s no app for that.” [IT World]
