Over 500 webOS Devs Run Into Microsoft’s Waiting Embrace

On Friday, Microsoft’s Brandon Watson put the word out that any webOS developers who were looking for a new home would get free dev tools and phones if they came to work for WIndows Phone. Over 500 have taken them up on their offer.

HP claims that webOS development is simply on hold while they secure a licensing agreement, but what are the developers supposed to do in the meantime? They’re going to jump ship — as they should — and a platform is nothing without talented devs. As a Windows Phone user, I’m pretty excited at the prospect of an influx of developing talent for the platform, even if it means picking over the carrion bones of webOS.
