iMac Of The Future Could Wirelessly Charge Your iPhone

Wireless charging is already here, but in most instances, the charge base is tethered to a power strip. Not so elegant. What if charging a phone/tablet/MP3 player was as simple as placing it near your computer?

Apple has worked with the MIT-affiliated WiTricity in the past on research projects involving computers as wireless charging stations. Now, WiTricity has independently conjured up a proof-of-concept that does just that. Place a compatibile device near the iMac (check out the white charge module on the underside of the iMac screen at the four-minute mark of the above video), and it begins charging. Wonderfully simple, no? [MacRumors]
