Can You Burn A Photo On Your Skin Using Sunlight?

If you take a negative, slap it on your forearm and sunbathe, will the image burn on your skin? This is a question Petapixel asked of its readers and the video above is the first attempt at an answer.

Sadly, sunlight is not a way to make a temporary forearm tattoo using negatives. The combination of sunlight and melanin distribution in this small patch of skin is not sensitive enough to burn the precise image on your skin. All you get is a blob or an outline.

Perhaps, what you need is a bigger negative or even a transparency placed firmly on your skin and some time in a tanning salon where the UV light is a bit more focused to achieve these results? Any thoughts? [Petapixel]
