We could all probably lose a few kilos, but running around with logs as shoes and a spare tyre for a waist? No fun. Thankfully, the Adidas adizero Feathers keeps the focus on trimming down the chubs: they’re the lightest everyday running shoe you can buy.

Unlike other light (190g) running shoes that recreate the love-it-or-hate-it barefoot feel, the Feathers have a bouncy, comfy, cushiony midsole that’s perfectly shock absorbent. You won’t notice the unevenness of city streets and they’re a dream on treadmills. The upper of the shoe uses Adidas’ Sprintweb technology, which is like a tougher mesh material (think of it like a screen door) that gives your borderline athlete’s foot the breathability to keep them from smelling like a Frenchman in heat. Looks: Everyone will know you’re wearing Adidas, but you’re not that annoying of a corporate shill.

The shoelaces are about 50 lumens too bright (for shoeheads, imagine the Jedi Dunks). That’s fine at night but a little too ’80s loud in the day time. I’m trying to lose weight here! I don’t want people to look at me, you know? The Sprintweb technology, though brilliant at giving air to your piggies, doesn’t offer much padding. I have relatively narrow feet and the AdiZero’s were pretty snug, so those with wide caveman feet should probably look somewhere else.
Last Word
If you have narrow feet, the AdiZero Feathers are invisible in all the right ways — extremely light in the upper but perfectly comfortable when running.
