Qualcomm Crams Three Kinds Of Wireless In One Chip

Dual-band Wi-Fi isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? Dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and Gigabit video streaming, all coming from the same chip. Qualcomm’s new triple-headed radio monster does just that. Space saved, stuff streamed speedily.

The addition of 60GHz wireless is the big bit here – the big spectrum jump takes your data away from the crowded 2.4GHz and 5GHz roads, and does it fast. Fast enough to stream HD video off your phone or computer without any pesky cables. Expect to see this (or something very much like it) popping up in near-future set-top boxes and TVs. Any cable killer is good news. [Qualcomm via GigaOm]
