Israel Calls On Apple To Take Down Pro-Palestinian App

Israeli Minister of Information and Diaspora Yuli Edelstein, in an email sent to Steve Jobs today, pushed for the removal of an iPad app titled “Third Intifada”, stating it encourages Palestinians to incite violence against Israel.

Apple has yet to comment on the request, but the app would appear to violate their guidelines against “commentary about a religious, cultural or ethnic group that are defamatory, offensive, mean-spirited or likely to expose the targeted group to harm or violence…” Indeed, “Third Intifada” refers to two previous violent conflicts between Israelis and Palestinians, the most recent having ended in the last decade.

Mr. Edelstein also called on Facebook in March to take down another Intifada group that attracted more than 300,000 members at the time. It shouldn’t be long before Apple responds in some way. [PhyOrg, The Atlantic Wire]
