Google Releases User Data To The Australian Government (If Asked)

That in itself is no real surprise, but new figures released in Google’s updated Transparency report may be. The Australian government asked for data from Google accounts and services 545 times in 2010, and 81% of those requests were either fully or partially complied with.

The new user data info comes in addition to previously released content removal request data. As you’ll see at the link below, the government made 14 content removal requests between January and June 2010, but made less than 10 content removal requests in the back half of last year.
