Dave Chappelle Might Be Working On A Netflix TV Show

Sources are telling The Daily that Dave Chappelle has a new show in the works. But apparently it won’t go through the cable or broadcast networks. Instead, he’s rumoured to be working with a streaming platform, such as Hulu or Netflix.

“Dave Chappelle’s going back to TV,” tattled our insider. “It’s not for a network. It’s for Netflix or Crackle or some other subscription service.”

Chappelle hasn’t been on TV since walking away from Chappelle’s Show in 2006, instead opting for hush-hush standup sets at various comedy clubs. And like The Daily mentions, turning to an online subscription service would give him leverage in negotiating the show’s details.

Netflix, Hulu and YouTube all seem like the most logical platforms for a project like this, since all are committed to producing original content in the future. Netflix recently acquired the distribution rights to David Fincher’s House of Cards, while Hulu and YouTube have both committed to offering original content.

In the name of all that is good and sacred in this world, please let this rumour be true.

Update: Chappelle is denying the rumour. Triple sad face. :((( [The Daily via NY Mag]
