Beijing’s Largest Hotel Belongs At Area 51

This is a rendering the Beijing National Hotel, a planned 214,000sqm hostel for visitors to China’s capital city. It’s huge, sure, the biggest landmark in Beijing. But my goodness, did it also have to be so creepy?

The hotel, the brainchild of Emergent, will have 1500 rooms, sweeping conference halls, a restaurant (just one?), and a 9900sqm indoor rainforest. The latter sounds a bit counterintuitive! But no worries; you’ll be so distracted by the snake-like alien sinew of building’s facade that you won’t have time to worry about anything other than making sure that front door didn’t lock behind you.
