A Robot That Can Bake Chocolate-Chip Cookies

The kids up at MIT have cooked up a robot that can bake chocolate cookies for them. They’ve named it PR2 and filmed it mixing the necessary ingredients with considerable efficiency.

As efficient as it is, though, this robot’s still a rookie. I won’t fault the fact that it can’t quite bake yet, as that takes a great deal more programming and planning than has been done. But it doesn’t show any concern for its cooking materials – dropping bowls all over the place should get you kicked out of the kitchen. It’s messy. And it, most concerning of all, just doesn’t show any of the love you need to make grandma’s best. But it does show potential. [MIT via DVICE]
