SMS Traffic Up 53 Per Cent In Australia Following Bin Laden's Death

According to data from Sybase365, following the news that Osama Bin Laden had been killed, Australian SMS traffic went up 53 per cent in the half hour after Donald Rumsfeld's current chief of staff Keith Urbahn tweeted the news.

SMS traffic went up 18 per cent in the US, 85 per cent in Singapore and 44 per cent in Thailand, with the high figures in the APAC region put down to the fact it was daytime when the news came out.

We know Twitter was slammed by people sharing information (and jokes) about the terrorist's demise, but it looks like SMS has a few tricks left up its sleeve too...
