Facebook recently took the wraps off its shiny new data centre in Prineville, Oregon and—courtesy the Open Compute Project—we’ve learned the whole massive thing sounds lean, mean and relatively green.

In the energy efficiency department, the data centre uses 227 volts of AC power. This differs from the traditional 208 volts seen in most data centres today and allows Facebook to pump power directly to the server farm.
Why blue? Why not? But actually it’s because of the company’s blue and white branding. And it’s cooool, man—just like the data centre strives to be.
