Massive Xylophone Constructed In The Woods To Sell Japanese Mobile Phone

What does it take to market a mobile phone in Japan these days? Try an immense xylophone contraption that slowly plays out Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desire in the middle of a large, mossy wood.

For the most part, this video is allegedly legit. The commercial’s creative director, working with NYC-based Drill Inc., promised the only thing adjusted in the video were “some levels.” Knowing what the kids can do with After Effects and Photoshop these days, however, I myself am going to remain dubious.

Oh, and the phone was the Touchwood SH-08C from NTT Docomo. If you’re snickering at the name just stop right there. We said you’d be doing that way back in 2009 when this wood-encased phone was first teased to the market.

Does that mean the phone was uber-delayed or the commercial took two years to complete? Unknown at this time, so just sit back and enjoy the show. [CNET]
